Evanston
Hospital was one of the first five Emergency Medicine programs
in the country and merged with the Emergency Medicine program
at Northwestern University Medical School in 1981. As of July
2009, the 28-year merger ceased to exist and our new affiliation
is with the University
of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine.
Residents from the Emergency Medicine program at John
H. Stroger, Jr.Hospital of Cook County also rotate through our system.
Our
legacy is strong with
over 200
graduating residents and many going on to national prominence. Leaders
in SAEM, ABEM, Test Development, Residency Review Committee for
Emergency Medicine,
Oral Board
examiners, Residency Directors and researchers have done their training
through our
Emergency Medicine program.
NorthShore University HealthSystem Emergency
Medicine has 50 board certified emergency medicine physicians
with many involved in
local and national activities. Additionally, we have a robust research
and educational program with a strong emphasis on medical simulation.
